Zabuton Cushion

Sale price$333.00

Kyoto-style Zabuton have a history of almost 1000 years: they used to symbolize a person's high status, and were only used by people such as the emperor, members of the imperial court, or the most revered Buddhist monks.

Now, zabuton cushions are part of Japanese daily life and are central to the Japanese 'omotenashi' culture of hospitality.

These cushions have the distinct features unique to Kyo-Zabuton: the tasselled, Y-shaped center stitch that keeps the cotton filling evenly distributed, a domed shape to ensure stability and comfort when sitting.

The traditional style has been reimagined to suit modern interiors and work as seated cushions for the floor or decorative cushions for the couch.
